Why do you need lecithin in cosmetics?
| On Mar10,2022
The composition of various cosmetics often includes a component called “lecithin”. Many people know that this substance is widely used in confectionery and medical practice – for example, it is added to drugs to support immunity, fight diabetes and treat heart ailments. What is the reason for the presence of lecithin in skin care products?
Lecithin is a complex element, mainly composed of phosphorus compounds with fats. It is one of the main building materials of our body, as it forms the basis of cell membranes. Cells with weak membranes cannot function properly and die off prematurely, which leads to a rapid loss of elasticity and early aging of the skin.
Thus, the main mission of lecithin is strengthening, strengthening of cellular structures, and in the long term – preserving youth.
By adding this component, manufacturers enhance the antioxidant properties of a cosmetic product, that is, the ability to destroy harmful free radicals. The nutritional value also increases: lecithin delivers the necessary vitamins, macro- and microelements directly to the cells that need them most.
The auxiliary role of lecithin is to improve the structure of the caring composition. Acting as an emulsifier, it breaks up fats into microscopic droplets so that they are better absorbed and processed by the skin. Summing up, we can say that lecithin added to cosmetics fights excessive oiliness or dryness, coarseness, flabbiness of the skin, promotes the treatment of rashes and prevents premature aging.
